More planting

We planted more seeds in our classroom.. Have a look!





    

    


We also tested our soil, to see if it was mostly sand, silt or clay. One of the most important properties of soil is the texture. Texture is a measure of whether the soil is more like sand, silt, or clay. The more like sand a soil is the less water it can hold and the less nutrients it delivers. On the other hand, the more like clay a soil is, the more water it can hold. 



Here is Alannah adding 1/2 soil, 1/2 water and leaving an inch of air:



Here is Ana-Maria adding shaking the mixture. We then left it to settle overnight and checked it the next morning:



We have a test on soil profile this Friday. Here's the diagram we will be labelling:
